Frequently Asked Questions

Where in the village is the cottage?
It's on Dirkie Uys Street, less than 10 minutes' walk to the shops and restaurants on the main street. The Pick N'Pay supermarket is around 7 minutes' walk.

How do I check in?
Our property managers will meet you at the house after 3pm and will show you around. You'll need to agree the time before you arrive - ideally a couple of days in advance, so they can book someone to suit your timetable. Everything will be ready for your stay - if you have any special requests please just ask, ideally in advance.

Can I rent just the house or the apartment, or must I take them together?
You can take either or both, depending on availability. The house has 2 double bedrooms and the apartment has 1 double. Both have their own lounge and garden/patio area, although the house has considerably more internal and external space. They have separate main entrances and the gardens are divided by a locked gate at the back of the house, which can be left open if you wish to take the whole property.

Is the house or apartment available for weekends only, or longer rentals?
Whenever you want either, for however long you wish, depending on availability.

Can we bring pets?
Sorry no we do not allow pets unless they are guide (hearing or sight) dogs.

Can I use the pool if I only rent the apartment?
The pool is in the house garden so the house tenants have private usage - but if the house is not let out, and you are renting the apartment, you are welcome to use the pool and house garden, just ask our Property Manager for access.

Is there parking?
Yes - there is off road driveway parking for both the house and apartment. There is always space on the very quiet road outside for extra cars if needed.

Do you allow smokers?
We ask you not to smoke whilst in the house or apartment. If you smoke indoors we reserve the right to terminate your stay.

Do you accept children?
As we charge per unit/night, not per person, there is no specific charge for children. For children under 2, parents are advised to bring their own travel cot and bedding for safety reasons. Should you need to hire a cot, we can arrange for one to be delivered to the house - the charge is ZAR 128 (£10) per night including bedding, payable upon delivery. Please give us one week's notice where possible to arrange this for you.

Is the pool covered?
No - there is no pool cover. Please bear in mind that adults are responsible for ensuring the safety and supervision of children at all times and bookings are made on the explicit understanding that there is an uncovered pool in the garden. The owners and their agents cannot accept responsibility for the care of guests or their children in and around the pool area.

What is included in the rental?
Crisp white bed linen & towels, electricity (on short term rentals), gardening service, pool cleaning & house cleaning before and after tenants. We provide a weekly linen change and house clean for stays of longer than a week. Long term rentals may be charged electricity and telephone separately.

Can I have a cleaner more often than once a week?
Yes, please ask us in advance or see our property manager when you are there for advice on costs and availability of personnel.

Should I leave a tip for the cleaner when we check out?
If you are happy with standard of cleaning, a tip is always appreciated. We normally leave R50-R100 for stays of a weekend - 2 weeks.

What laundry equipment is available?
For details please see amenities page. There is a local laundry should you wish to send your things out - please ask our property manager for prices.
